Belgorod - amazingly hospitable, especially when he meets
You, along with Sergei Georgiyevich Avanesov.
Each year the Department of Agriculture of the Belgorod region organizes the conference "Day of the
vegetable fields", where anyone can learn about the latest achievements of Russian and foreign breeding for skilled variety-testing fields,
personally see the advantages or disadvantages of the proposed seed firms varieties and hybrids to choose for themselves
most suitable.
Field Days were held on 9 July and 18 August 2010 in Printsevski nursery gardens, which
located 60 km from Belgorod. The first Field Day was dedicated to the cucumber, the second - cabbage. The conference was
attended Russian and foreign firms, such as the "Syngenta", "Clause", "Sedec", "SemAgro". One of its active members were
agrofirm "Semco-Junior".
In the Belgorod region vegetable crops are cultivated mainly in the open ground. Ironically,
greenhouse vegetable production in the area is underdeveloped. Therefore, the demonstration site Printsevski nursery gardens
were submitted to our hybrids of cucumber for outdoors Artek F1 and Orleonok F1 and cabbage Fabiola F1,
Pruktor F1, Gloria F1, Julietta F1, cauliflower Metelitsa F1, Smilla F1 (Morozko). During the tests
counted as the yield of hybrids and their disease resistance, taste and suitability for processing.
Sowing seeds of cucumber in soil was held on May 6, and cabbage seedlings - 15 April. In the
open ground planted 45-day seedlings. During the growing season plants were processed by means against diseases and pests
and new anti-stress medication Izabion.
It can be noted that the conditions of summer 2010 in the Belgorod region were extremely unfavorable
to grow, especially on non-irrigated (ie, without water spray), and even moisture-loving crops such as cucumber and cabbage. End
spring and early summer had been cold and overcast, which significantly slowed the growth and development of plants. Then, during half
months, precipitation was not, daily temperature exceeded 30°C, while soil temperature was even higher. In
acute shortage of air moisture even glaze did not give significant results. In connection with the anomalous heat effect was weak
and means to combat pests.
Fruiting cucumber Artek F1 and Orleonok F1 began one of the first (July 2). During the summer,
both hybrids showed an enviable heat resistance and the complex resistance to powdery mildew, mildew and cucumber mosaic
virus common (VOM-1) transported by pests. The fruits were aligned, dense, have excellent taste and a perfect fit for
pickling. Because of its resistance to disease and stress the plant cucumbers Artek F1 and Orleonok F1 Aug. 18
looked very favorably compared with hybrids of cucumber other firms, which by this time grown old, were severely affected
by powdery mildew and and cucumber mosaic virus-1. Plot where we grew hybrids, in green, the plants were healthy and continued to bear
fruit until the end of August. In our view, these branded hybrids of cucumber worthy moved adverse conditions.
This year, we introduced hybrids of early and medium cabbage. Conditions had been such that
the development of cabbage slowed. Even early cabbage Fabiola F1 matured only to 18 August and was well formed, dense, does
not crack a head of a mass of 500-700, the hybrids average cabbage Pruktor F1, Gloria F1 and Juliet F1 at
that time still developing heads of cabbage, mass reached 400-500 g. For such a water-loving crops as cabbage, which grows over a long
period of time without watering, this is a good result. All hybrids are not bad endured dry summers. Not for one
experimental plot during the inspection of the demonstration site was not detected attacks by disease and lack of
moisture.
Begun in late August in the Belgorod region rains rectify the situation, and already by the
time of cutting in late September cabbages gain the normal weight and size.
